Nail tips-
Tips can be full well, shallowell, natural or French. There is also transparent and coloured nail tips as well as different shapes such as flame effect. They are placed on the nail with nail glue. The stop point of the tips attaches to the free edge to create a contact which is water tight. 

Acrylic –
Powder and liquid system.  (monomer and polymer ) The two products are used at the same time and when applied to the nail they set in seconds creating a strong but flexible overlay. The consistency has to be medium to wet to create optimum strength. Comes in clear and colour. 

Files –
Different grits and colours.  Straight or boomerang curved, and some other shapes.
80 grit is course, 100 grit is medium, 180 grit is med/fine, 240 grit is  fine.

Buffers –
Sanding blocks  – White used on most extensions for sanding, various colours and grits.
2 or 3 way shiner block to create high gloss shine. 

Acetone/tip remover –
Used for removal if enhancements. Acrylic about 30 mins, UV gel needs filing off unless soak off gel is used.

Nail varnish remover – 
Must be non –acetone (only for nail varnish) 

Sanitizers –
To reduce bacteria.  Can be hand gel or anti septic spray.  Both can be used. 

Sterilizers –
Solution for soaking metal tools, such as barbicide.

Disinfectants –
Solution for cleaning floors/worktops 

Curing/polymerisation – 
Is the term used when a chemical reaction occurs when artificial nail products turn into a solid. 

Primers – 
Are made from chemicals such as methacrylic acid, or ester monomers, and are designed to remove grease from the natural nail. 

Nail glue – 
They set by removing all oxygen i.e. when the tip is placed onto the natural nail all air is pushed out and the glue sets. 
NB nail glues and resins do have fumes which can irritate eyes.
