Lash Extension Process

Complete the consultation and client record card.

Cleanse your hands.

Cleanse clients eyes and lashes removing all traces of mascara.  It is better that the client arrives with no mascara on.  Lash shampoo and remove the residue with water.

Place a small amount of glue on the jade stone  and arrange lashes so that they are convenient for you.

Remember to change your glue dot every 20 minutes to keep the glue that you are working with fresh.

Apply eye pads and tape the eye holding down the bottom lashes.  Make sure lower lashes are protected correctly and that the pads are not on the waterline of the eye as this can irritate the eyes and cause excessive watering.

Ask the client to keep their eyes closed at all times.

Preform lash map to suit the clients eye shape and style they require.

You can apply the primer to the lashes at this stage if you choose to use primer.

Start applying the lashes.

Apply the lashes using tweezers. Attach the lash extension to the natural lash 1mm away from the lash line, close to but not touching the skin.

The glue is like a magnet and will attract the extension to the natural lash.

Use your non dominant hand to isolate the natural lash using tweezers whilst using your dominant hand to apply  the lash extension to the isolated natural lash.   Apply the extension gently.  The glue will grab.

The lash should be facing upwards and parallel to the other lashes without any beads of glue.

Do not touch the lash extension after the glue has set.

Move on to another area or the opposite eye and repeatedly apply extensions until it becomes difficult to isolate more natural lashes.

The lash extensions and natural lashes should not be stuck together.  Use both sets of tweezers to separate any extensions from neighbouring lashes or lash extensions.

Grasp and separate the lashes in a horizontal manner it is best to do it while the adhesive is dry but not fully cured.  Never pull the lashes in a vertical direction or place any tension on the natural lashes.

Brush through the lashes regularly to help keep them apart and help prevent stickies.

Repeat the application and separation steps until you have covered all the natural lashes that you are able to lash.

Avoid applying lash extensions to new growing lashes as there would be too much pressure and the natural lash.

TOP TIP –  Do no apply a lash extension to a natural lash that is less than 3mm in length.

Be sure to check through all the lashes to check that they are all sitting in the correct direction and that non are stuck together.

After the full set of lash extensions are complete use your eyelash blower to blow away eyelash adhesive fumes from the clients eyes.

Ask the client to keep their eyes closed until you let them know they can open them at the end of the treatment.

Remove all tape and pads carefully and check no bottom lashes are stuck to the top lashes.  Sit your client up with  their eyes still closed use your eyelash blower to help blow away fumes the clients can slowly open their eyes after 30 seconds.

TOP TIP –  Take photos of your work to promote yourself and check your progression.
